The icon does not need to leave this machine
An icon is the face of something not in the store yet.
Dropping it on a “free ICO converter” hands an unpublished mark to a machine you do not know. Closing the tab does not close the copy.
From the 2025-12-01 beta, edit and export run on this computer. There is no “sign in to upload”.
Source, preview, ONNX, and ZIP stay here. Network is only for model weights.
What may leave
The source does not. Drop, paste, and pick stay in local state. The ZIP uses the system save dialog.
Weights may. The first AI matte or 4× download writes ONNX files into the app data directory. Then offline. See model management.
Analytics carry no image. First-party events, if any, are names — not PNG, not your export path.
Nine languages. Changing language does not change where pixels live.
One check tonight
Open Settings and see whether the AI models are already local. No download yet means no network for inference. After that, unplug and export.
Overview: Introduction.
Do not
- Do not read “local” as “never any network”. The direct build checks updates. The first model download uses the network. Microsoft Store builds update through the Store, not the site updater.
- Do not mail the source so a colleague can “convert it”. Install Zapicon there.
- Do not paste unpublished masters into tickets. Preview is enough.
Next: one file, eight packs, matte here.
