Guides never enter the ZIP

Safe area is not decoration.

If the glyph kisses the edge, Android crops it and iOS crowds the corner. Since 2025-12-24 the preview can stack Apple / Android / Windows Fluent / golden / grid.

What each line is for

Apple. Keep the main mark in the centre ~66%. Read it with Squircle.

Android. Adaptive icons are masked. Keep the foreground in.

Fluent. Small Windows sizes need a readable silhouette, not a hairline.

Golden ratio. Composition only. Not a store checklist.

Grid. Pixel alignment. Useful on a large canvas. Do not worship it at 16 px.

Lines live on the preview. ZIP, ICO, and ICNS do not include them. You do not “remember to turn them off”.

Copy: design guidelines. Feel: device preview.

Do not

• Do not bake a grid into the source.
• Do not treat a golden spiral as review. Stores look at platform masks.
• Do not judge colour pop with guides on. Turn them off for one look.

Next: Squircle, whiten / blacken / cutout.
