Sit it on the canvas before you decorate

Most ugly icons are not bad logos.

They sit high, kiss the edge, or drown in the fill. The first beta only did this: scale, rotate, corner, padding, fill. Offset and WEBP came later.

canvas ≠ export size

Left side writes the numbers. Right side updates. Canvas size is preview only.

Occupancy first

Size is how much of the canvas the glyph uses. Padding is how far it stays from the edge. Android adaptive icons need more inset. iOS wants Squircle plus a little air — Squircle is not a rounded rect.

Offset landed 2025-12-18. When the optical centre is not the geometric centre, nudge. Do not pad with empty pixels.

Rotate rarely. App icons almost never tilt. Tilt dies first at 16 px.

Fill may be solid, gradient, or clear. iOS should not be clear. Windows taskbar may.

Sources: PNG / JPG / WEBP / SVG. SVG is rasterised. Tiny bitmaps go through 4× first.

Canvas is not export

512 is fast. 1024 is the daily view. 2048 is for detail. Export still follows each platform spec.

Controls: Visual editor.

Do not

  • Do not fake padding with a transparent border. Use the control.
  • Do not edit the source to move it two pixels. Use offset.
  • Do not crank size to 100% when 16 px fails. See device preview.

Next: 25 presets, guides stay off the ZIP.
